Our Garden at Characters nursery
The garden is secure, walled and south-facing with plenty of shaded areas to keep out of the sun on really hot days. We have recently expanded the garden and created two areas, one has rubber play chippings, the other has a natural bark surface. The children's chickens (which they hatched from eggs in the Pre-School last year) live in a coop at the bottom of the garden and will soon be joined by some of the bantams they have just hatched. The children are free to explore the garden, which has a sand-pit play area, water play, a climbing frame, mud kitchen, bug hotel, balance beam, slide, play house, a planting and digging area and numerous drawing/painting stations. There is a small baby area in a lovely shaded part of the garden that has a high quality, soft astro-turf area and a snuggle pod. We have just planted some more trees in the garden, a Hazel tree, three Silver Birch and a lovely Mimosa. These will bring all year round interest and help attract even more wildlife into the garden.
